CAUTION REGARDING “CULT AWARENESS NETWORK” (CAN)

On October 23, 1996, a law firm which represented the Church of Scientology for years purchased the logo and license agreement of the Cult Awareness Network (CAN). Several older publications refer you to the “Cult Awareness Network” (CAN) in Illinois. That phone line and address are no longer trustworthy. The Illinois phone number and a very similar address were acquired by Scientology-related investors in California, who also set up a similarly named website.
INTERNATIONAL CULTIC STUDIES ASSOCIATION (ICSA)

ICSA is a research and educational organization of over 150 professionals. Its mission is to study psychological manipulation in abusive groups, to educate the public about this phenomenon, and to help families and former members adversely affected.

Created and presented yearly workshops, lead group discussions, and provided one-on-one counseling to former members of cults at recovery workshops in Connecticut and Colorado.
